Leonard J Ordon Sr

Leonard J. Ordon Sr. "LJO" 86, of Rotterdam passed away early Wednesday morning August 23rd at Ellis Hospital with family by his side. Born and educated in Schenectady, Leonard was the son of the late Stanley and Anna (Pamrowski) Ordon. A United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, Len was the recipient of a honoree degree of excellence from R.P.I. An employee of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute for over 33 years, Leonard retired in 1990 as a manager of Instrumentation and Media Service. A member of the Rotterdam Elks and the Elks Dart League, Len was also a life member of VFW Post 1895 in Rotterdam, the Society of Manufacturing Engineer's (Watervliet Chapter). During his time in the Navy Leonard served on the US Soley, US Wright and the US Serria. An avid polka dancer, Len played the accordion, loved the NY Giants, NY Yankees, NASCAR, hunting, golf and spending time at camp with his family. Beside his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his first wife Arlene S. Morrison who passed in 1992 and his daughter; Linda Ann Jones and brother Edward Ordon. Leonard is survived by his wife of over 22 years Marylyn (Ambrozak) Ordon who he married on January 7, 1995. his children; Leonard Ordon Jr. (Marilyn) of Colonie, Viginia Lamb (Gordy) of Pattersonville and Darlene Shattuck of Porter Corners, step-children; Brenda Ambesi (Mike) of Rotterdam, Debbie Sterge (Jeff) of Colonie, Kelly Zieber of Rotterdam and David Nold of Scotia, his son-in-law; Mike Jones of Florida his brother Stanley Ordon (Norma) of Rotterdam, his brother-in-law; James Morrison (Dorothy) of Rotterdam, grandchildren; Gordon E., Kyle, Wayne, Jennifer(Aaron), Brittni and Cole, step-grandchildren; Michelle (Rob), Kyle(Kayla), Briana, Isaac, Nathan, Nick, Bryan, Courtney and Jack, great grandchildren; Casey, Oliva and Sebastian , several nieces and nephews and his 2 Charlie's. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning August 28th at 9:45 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY followed at 10:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Road, Schenectady, NY where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 pm. Interment with full military honors will be held at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Leonard's memory to the ALS Foundation at St. Peter's Hospital or to Breast Cancer Research.
