Leona J Hoffman (Taber)

Leona J. Hoffman, age 84, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully in Community Hospice at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY on February 20, 2016. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Mary (Kaley) Taber. Leona was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved family gatherings and always made sure holidays were memorable. She always made sure there was an extra seat at the table for those in need of a meal. She loved to do crafts such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch. She loved the Lord and His love always shined right through her. She always had joy in her heart and loved to laugh and have fun with her family. Leona will be deeply missed. Leona was a member of the Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church and served in Women in Ministries. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Community Hospice, and the nursing staff at C-1 at Ellis Hospital for their support and care for their mother. She is predeceased by her husband Edwin W. Hoffman, son Carl Hoffman, and four brothers - Charles Taber, Clifford Taber, Merlin Taber and Art Taber. Leona is survived by her loving children, Joyce Elia(Jim) of Colonie, Linda Hoffman of Albany, Diane Rouse of Port St. Lucie, Florida(Ron), and Gary Hoffman(Dawn) of Rotterdam. Also survived by six grandchildren - Erica Barringer, Jason Hoffman, Tyler Rouse, Caitlin Philippi, Nicole Hoffman and Rebecca Garcia as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Internment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
