Lawrence E. Palmer, formerly of Schenectady, Malta and Palm Bay, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2009 at Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care Center in Clifton Park, New York. Mr. Palmer was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 17, 1925 to John and Grace (Parker) Palmer. He lived most of his life in Schenectady and Malta, but enjoyed five years living in warm and sunny Palm Bay, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 42 years, Rosemary, his brother John and his son-in-law, Edward Affinito. He is survived by his daughters Vickie Affinito of Queensbury, Barbara Androkavitz and her husband Harry of Schoharie, Debra Ranney and her husband Thomas of Fort Ann and Laurene Kretzler and her husband Robert of Rotterdam. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeremy and Jason Androkavitz and Amy and Justin Kretzler. Extended family includes step-grandchildren Mary Kay Campbell (Brian) of Hebron and Edward Affinito (Manon) of Queensbury and great-grandchildren Emily Campbell and Connor and Olivia Affinito. He enjoyed time with his extended family in Florida and summer parties in Hebron, New York. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, George (Patricia) and Steve (Anita) Beloncik and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Palmer was proud of his service to his country, entering the Army and serving in World War II at the age of eighteen. Upon discharge from the Army, he worked at General Electric in Schenectady, and then drove truck both over the road and local delivery. Wanting to be his own boss, he then opened L P Motors in Schenectady and enjoyed the used car business for many years. Upon moving to Malta, he joined Upstate Transit, enjoying twenty years of driving charter trips to many areas of the country. He retired to Palm Bay in 1998. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kingsway Manor where he resided for four years and the very compassionate staff of Schuyler Ridge for the wonderful care Mr. Palmer received during his short stay. Funeral Services will take place at Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue in Schenectady with burial at Fisher Cemetery in Rotterdam when weather permits in spring, 2009.
