Lawrence S. Van Bellingham, 95, of New York, New York peacefully passed away on December 6, 2022, after a hard fought battle with Leukemia.
Lawrence, born to Maud & Leon Van Bellingham, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, took his first breath on October 26, 1927. He was a kind & vibrant force from the beginning. He graduated with honors from Columbia College of Columbia University & has an MBA from New York University. He proudly served as a soldier in World War II, protecting the Manhattan Project in New Mexico.
Lawrence was a financial expert with a 40 year career on Wall Street. He spent 35 years at Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley as a Managing Director; his group financed more than $6 billion in equity & debt financing of various Media, Telecom & Entertainment companies. In the last five years, he was a Managing Director of Media & Entertainment at Geneva Capital.
When Lawrence was not working, he devoted much of his time to researching the financial markets & was also an active member of many organizations. He had numerous interests & could frequently be found entertaining family & colleagues at the New York Athletic Club. He was a wonderful, upbeat presence in our lives and will be dearly missed. Lawrence is survived by his seven nieces and their five children & grandchildren.
Services will be held at Bond Funeral Home in Schenectady, New York on Saturday, December 10 at 4p.m. Visitation will be held from 3-4PM prior at the funeral home. Burial services will be held in Lawrence, Massachusetts at Bellevue Cemetery on Monday, December 12 at 1pm.
