Kimberly Schermerhorn

Kim "Kimmy” Schermerhorn of Schenectady, passed away on Thursday, March 16th just one day shy of her 52nd birthday.

Born in Schenectady, Kim attended Van Corlaer Elementary and Mont Pleasant High School. She worked for Hallmark Nursing Center and Kingsway Manor before becoming a Certified Nurse Aid at Glendale Home where she was employed for over twenty years.

Kim was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved long walks with friends, and family, or on her own, wherever there was a scenic view. She loved lying in the sun & shopping (especially for her grandchildren). Any day off from work was spent with her daughter and grandchildren.


Kim was the daughter of the late Lori (Pitt) Morris. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Brittney Starkes (Javon Acquasanta), her cherished grandchildren, Jersey and Ja’Vaughn Acquasanta, sisters, Kelly Schermerhorn (Tim Markle) and Victoria Morris (Jennifer Malave), half-brother, Keith Schermerhorn, her life-long partner, Timothy Starkes, stepfather, Alvin Morris, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kim's family would like to thank the medical staff at Albany Medical Center, particularly palliative care, oncology, and the nurses on E5.

Kim’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 31st from 2 to 4 pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y. 12306 (Off of Broadway). A time for sharing will begin at 4 pm..
