Kathleen Ann DeSalvatore, 71, of Rotterdam passed away on Monday October 29, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, Kathy lived all of her life in Schenectady and was a graduate of Draper High School and Russell Sage College. Most of her employment was with the federal government. Her most rewarding career was with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms serving as a field inspector. Kathy was pre-deceased by her father, Vincent (Jimmy) DeSalvatore and her mother, Rose (Musco) DeSalvatore. She is survived by her first cousins, Ralph Musco, Jr., Patsy (Joan Audrey) Musco and Angela Farry. She is also survived by several second and third cousins. She was also pre-deceased by her dear cousin, John Musco (Joyce) and Dorothy Carrieri. As a child her closest playmates were her cousin, John and her friend, Nancy (Castaldi) Deallenbach. After retirement from the government, Kathy began working at the Rotterdam Senior Center. She conducted a class in "brain aerobics". She spent much time researching ideas for the class in an effort to provide brain enhancing games and fun activities to the class. She was also a passionate cook whose first published cookbook was entitled "Love to Cook Italian". She was a member of the Rotterdam Eagles, Guilderland Elks and the lady's auxiliary of VFW Post 1895 in Schenectady. Kathy was very much concerned with animal abuse issues and veterans' issues and contributed regularly to their cause. She also loved wildlife, especially birds. In Kathy's memory please consider contributing to any animal abuse or veterans' organization of your choice. Life has not ended for Kathy, it has just changed. Funeral Services for Kathy will be Monday November 5, 2018 at 8:45AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 9:30AM at St. Luke's Church 1241 State Street Schenectady. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville.
