Joseph A Bietka

Joseph A. Bietka 75 of Ballston Spa died Wednesday November 16, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Joseph and Janina (Spiewak) Bietka and a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. Joseph attended Siena College and served in the naval reserve from 1951 to 1959. He worked for A & P Market for over 29 years retiring as an assistant manager and also had work for P & C market, Gabriel's market in Rotterdam and the Niskayuna CO/OP. Joe later worked for New York State in the Tax and Finance for 12 years before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Mad Hatters bowling league where he served as secretary and treasurer, the Church of St. Adalbert and its Holy Name Society. Joseph was predeceased in 1986 by his first wife Theresa (Moncsko) Bietka. Survivors include his wife Sally Tasselmyer Bietka who he married on April 8 ,1994, three children Richard Bietka and wife Jayne of Ballston Spa, Christopher Bietka and wife Peggy of Schenectady and Diane Wolfrum of Scotia, three step children Neil Tasselmyer and wife Kim of Brunswick, Michelle Hoag and husband Jeff of Rotterdam and Stacey Tasselmyer of Schenectady, six grandchildren, C.J. , Nick and Christina Schoonmaker, Madison Lynch-Bietka, Theresa Bietka and Justin Tasselmyer ,an adopted grandson Paul Ruger, a sister-in-law Sylvia VerWey of Illinois, a cousin Ben Bietka of Amsterdam,1 great grandchild and 3 nieces. Funeral services will be held Monday morning November 21, 2005 at 10:15am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY followed at 11 am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 277 Albany Street, Schenectady where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours are Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Bond Funeral Home. Interment will be private in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Paul's life Teen, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady, NY 12304 in Joseph's memory.
