John Veglio

John Veglio, 78, of Schenectady, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday morning February 12 2009 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born and educated in Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Agricola) Veglio. John worked for General Electric Company in Schenectady as a Turbine Operator for over 25 years until his retirement in 1993. A man who was always known for his tremendous work ethic, he also was a man of great Integrity. John loved to sing and play the piano and accordion, but most of all he cherished the time he spent with his friends and family. John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Bianca (Santorio) Veglio, his two sons Giuseppe Veglio (Nicoletta) of Clifton Park, and Giulio Veglio (Laura) of Orlando, Florida, two daughters Maria Veglio Luke of Orlando, Florida, and Elvita Veglio Fiorni (William) of Glenville, NY. He is also survived by his sister Elenora Dodero of Italy, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning February 16 at 8:15am at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady, followed by a mass at 9am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant Street Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening February 15 from 5-8pm at the funeral home, relatives and friends are invited to attend. Entombment will be at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
