John E Redmond

John E. Redmond Sr. 65 of Rotterdam died suddenly Wednesday morning November 1, 2006 at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born in Schenectady, John was the son of the late George and Phoebe (Van Patten) Redmond. A 1959 graduate of Linton High School, he served with the Army National Guard for many years. John worked as an operating engineer for over 40 years for Local #106 before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Rotterdam Eagles Club and was a former coach for both the Rotterdam Little League and Rotterdam Girl's Softball League. John was predeceased by a son John E. Redmond Jr. and three brothers, Gene, James and Leland Redmond. Survivor's include his wife of 44 years Patricia W. (Zmyewski) Redmond and two children, Michael J. Redmond Sr. and his wife Stacy of Duanesburg and Julie C. Redmond-Raymond of Rotterdam, eight grandchildren, Michael Redmond Jr., Cheyenne Redmond-Seel, Cody Redmond-Seel, Morgan Redmond, Cameryn Raymond, Kip Raymond, Austin Redmond and Anna Redmond and several nieces and nephews. John was also father-in-law to Maureen Seel of Petersburg, NY and Tammy Redmond of Rotterdam. A memorial service will be held Saturday morning November 4, 2006 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady with a visitation being held at the funeral home from 9 to 11am prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308
