John A "Jack" Moran

John A. "Jack" Moran, 88. of Saratoga Springs passed away on Tuesday evening, July 3rd at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. Born and educated in Schenectady, Jack was the son of the late John and Eva VanTassel Moran and Step-son of the late Theresa Morrett Moran. A graduate of Draper High School and Cobleskill College. Jack was a proud Marine Corp veteran who served during the Korean War. Jack retired from the Golub Corporation after 35 years of Service. Jack was committed to giving back to the community. He was involved with the American Red Cross, 4-H and Junior Achievement. Jack's true passion was his involvement with the YMCA. He challenged himself and his loved ones to learn, stay active and help others. Jack received the Life Time Achievement Award in 2016 for all of his work with the YMCA. Jack was a marathon runner, loved playing tennis and could be found at the Y any day of the week! Survivors include Jack's wife of 61 years Mary Lou (Tunney) Moran of Saratoga, his children; John C. Moran (Linda) of Malta and Anne Moran Hipple (Brian) of Lakeville, MN, his grandchildren; John R. Moran (Danielle), Kaitlin Dobies (Ron), Daniel Hipple (Hilary) and Mary Beth Hipple (Eric), his great- grandchildren Ella and Reese Dobies, his sister Joan Badgley (Ed) of Cooperstown and several nieces and nephews. John was also predeceased by his brother; Robert Moran and sister; Betty Caruso. The funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 7th at 4pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home till 8 pm following the funeral services. Interment will be held on Tuesday morning July 10, 2018 at 10:30am at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors. We welcome all family and friends to join in celebrating his life at all parts of the services including a celebration following Tuesday's interment at Mallozzi's Restaurant on Curry Road in Schenectady. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the Capital District Y.M.C.A., 465 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
