John Mannato, 87, of Schenectady passed away Sunday November 6, 2011 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Michael and Jennie (Casanova) Mannato. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. John served in the Army during World War 2. He was employed as a Letter Carrier for the US Post Office, retiring in 1986. John was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Schenectady. He is predeceased by his wife Nora (Corini) Mannato whom he married November 17, 1946 and two Brothers Peter Mannato and Albert Mannato. John was survived by three sons John Mannato Jr. (Rose Marie) of Florida, Michael Mannato (Mary Ann) of Rotterdam and David Mannato (Jacqueline) of Niskayuna, one daughter Janice Foster (Daniel) of Scotia, two brothers Anthony Mannato of Scotia, and Michael Mannato of Rotterdam also survived by 8 Grandchildren- Lisa Fiori, Lori Thornell, Donald Foster, Michele Evans, Heather DeFilippo, Christopher Mannato, Jonathan Mannato and Olivia Mannato, 4 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Ellis ER, the A-6 wing and the A wing at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home for their care of Dad. Funeral Services will be Friday 10:15AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 11AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant Street Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Thursday evening 6-8PM.at the funeral home. Internment will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam. Contributions can be made in John's memory to the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Building Fund 1255 Pleasant Street Schenectady, NY 12303.
