John J. Henderson, 88, formerly of Rotterdam passed away on Friday June 25, 2021 at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in Gloversville.
Born in Schenectady, John was the son of the late James and Clara (Connors) Henderson and attended Nott Terrace High School.
A former Welding Supervisor with the General Electric Company for more than 38 years prior to his retirement in 1985. John also served with the United States Air National Guard for over 10 years.
A member of the Lynnwood Reformed Church in Guilderland, John was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the Scottish Rite, a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge # 1174 F&A.M, and a 55-year member of the Blue Lodge of the Shriners. Devoted to his family, John enjoyed Stockcar racing, fishing for rainbow trout at Lake Placid and was an avid hunter.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Gladys E. (Flower) Henderson in 2017 his daughter-in-law, Karen Henderson, grandson Jeffrey Henderson, brother James Henderson and his sister Arlene Quigg.
John is survived by his three loving sons Keith Henderson (Judy) of Johnsville, NY, Kevin Henderson of Wright, NY and Kim Henderson of Rotterdam. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren-Christopher Henderson (Kari), Nicholas Henderson and Kami Hodgson (Jeffrey), four great grandchildren Jonah, Brooke, Raelynn and Hunter, a sister Diane Thompson of Schenectady and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for John will be Wednesday June 30, 2021 at 12 Noon at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A visitation will be held from 11 to 12 noon prior to the service.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY
