John Curcio, 94, of Princetown passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella Maria (Lusignolo) Curcio. He served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific in an anti-aircraft unit. John was employed for 40 years at General Electric Company in Schenectady, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Schenectady Lodge #1174 F.& A.M. (formerly New Hope Lodge #730); the Cypress Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Albany; St. George's Chapter #157 R.A.M.; St. George's Commandery #37, Knights Templar; St. George's Council #74 R.& S.M.; and Hildebrandt-Davis VFW Post 1895. John was an avid gardener and enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks with his family. He was totally devoted to his wife and children. John is survived by his three daughters, Mary Lee Countermine (Bill) of Rotterdam, Carolyn J. St. John (Frank) of Rotterdam, and Elisa Ann Pepe (Rick) of Princetown, and one brother, Joseph Curcio of Scotia. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Erika Quick, Bryan Countermine, Jon-Alan Minehardt, Michele DeLorenzo, Christina Pepe and Daniel Pepe, as well as seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Mary (Zitella) Curcio, whom he married August 10, 1941. Also predeceased by two brothers, Sam Curcio and Peter Curcio, and two sisters, Vera Curcio and Mary Smith. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Stockade staff at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center for their constant and loving care of Dad. A private service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 12 noon at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Interment will be in Vale Cemetery in Schenectady.
