John H. Bartlett,89, passed away Monday evening January 29th at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Born in New York, NY, John was the son of the late John Edgar and Violet (Thompson) Bartlett. An army veteran of both World II and the Korean War, John worked for the General Electric Company for over 38 years, retiring as a steam fitter in 1987. A member of St. Gabriel's Church, John was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club, was an avid hunter, enjoyed bird watching, photography, going on camera safaris and traveling the world. Predeceased in 1975 by his first wife Jean Stewart Bartlett and was also predeceased by his brother Thomas and sister Joan. John is survived by his wife of 38 years Lillian J. (Liberatore) Bartlett who he married on September 29, 1979, his children; Robert Bartlett (Susan) of Colonie, Robin Phelan (John) of Guilderland and Janice Clark(Philip) of Georgetown, TX, his grandchildren; John Phelan, Kelsie Phelan, Katherine Phelan, Benjamin Phelan, Wendy Fox (Matthew) and Deborah Franchini (Steve), his 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning February 2nd at 10:45 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady followed at 11:30 am at St. Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg Street, Schenectady, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Cyril's Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. John's family would like to thank the nursing staff of A wing at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home, especially Nancy, Teresa and Linda for the excellent care and compassion shown to John and our family during his time at the home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John's memory to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 4 Pine West Plaza #405, Albany, NY 12205 or to a charity of choice.
