John W Allen

John W. Allen, 96, of Schenectady passed away at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs on Monday August 6, 2018. Born in Salem, NY he was the son of the late Elliott and Elizabeth (White) Allen. John served his country in the Army during World War 2. He was the owner and operator of Allen's Confectionary in Schenectady. John was also employed for several printing companies around the area. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is predeceased by his wife Adeline (Sienka) Allen, one daughter Amy Baltazar, two brothers George Allen and James Allen as well as one sister Mary Linedoll. John is survived by four daughters Beth Kost (John) of Schenectady, Cathy Devine of Charleston, SC. Dawn Ferrier (Robert) of Gansevoort, NY and Elaine Gregorie (Daniel) of Goose Creek, SC. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Inurnment with military honors will be at the Gerald B H Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers.
