Jean L. Mcneil

Jean "Jeannie" Lucille (Guyette) McNeil, a loving daughter, a cherished wife, a devoted mother, and a beloved grandmother and great grandmother, departed this life on Wednesday, December 4th from Kingsway Nursing Home after a long illness. Born September 13, 1933, in the Stockade District of Schenectady, Jean was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and a lifelong resident of Schenectady County. Marrying her middle school sweetheart, Thomas Gordon "Gordy" McNeil on February 1st, 1953, the couple made a home in Rotterdam where they raised their two daughters. Jeannie and Gordy celebrated 52 years of marriage until his passing in 2005.

Jean is predeceased in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. Jean is survived by her two daughters, Lynn (John) Morhous of Schenectady, NY and Kathy (Keith) Lasher of Glenmoore, PA. She was adored by her 5 grandchildren, Thomas (Caron) Morhous, John (Jennifer) Morhous, Kara Morhous Spoth, Kraig Lasher, and Kyle Lasher (Ashley Tegler), as well as doted over her 8 great grandchildren: Bixby Morhous, Madelynn Morhous, Nathan Morhous, Lucy Morhous, Reagan Morhous, Coraline Spoth, Quinn Spoth, and Seamus Lasher.

As a loving daughter, Jean spent her life in service to the caretaking of her parents and then later as a loving and devoted wife and carer to her husband, Thomas. As a cherished mother and grandmother, Jean spent many hours enjoying the company of her family. Her grandchildren made sure that she had a computer in her advanced years and she quickly learned email to stay in touch with family. She took pride in her home and yard and stayed physically fit by insisting on mowing her own lawn. She also crocheted baby hats and blankets for the church. Jean was an avid reader and writer. When she wasn't crocheting, writing letters and emails to her family, or reading a book, she was also a devoted pet mother.

A service for Jean's life will be held on Thursday December 12, 2024 at Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady with visitation from 11AM-12PM and a funeral service at 12PM. A burial will be held following at Evergreen Memorial Park to reunite Jean and Thomas again.
