Janis Donofrio (Liotta)

With deep sorrow we wish to announce the peaceful passing of Janis (Jan) Liotta Donofrio on May 19, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany. Jan was the daughter of the late John Liotta and Ermina (Willy) Liotta. Jan is survived by her sons: Stephen (Karen) Donofrio, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Donofrio and David Jr. (Kate Dolan) Donofrio as well as grandchildren: Deva, India, Elijah, Lukas, Sophia, Jacob, Abbie, Elise, Jarrod Dolan, Kerry Lindemann and Elia Lindemann. She is also survived by her sisters Anne Nowak and Beth (Rhett) Tyler as well as her brother in law and sister in law Louis and Carol Marotta and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jan was predeceased by her beloved husband whom passed in 2012. Jan and Dave traveled extensively, but their favorite vacations were spent in Mexico. Her family was the joy of her life and their love and support brought immeasurable happiness. Jan worked at Schalmont School District for 33 years and made lasting friendships with her coworkers. Upon retirement, she was a volunteer with Hospice and was very active in Our Lady Queen of Peace parish. These brought her a deep sense of joy and fulfillment and she was so grateful to have the opportunity to serve others. Her Hospice and Parish families were special people who shared her love of God and others. Jan would like to be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who reached out to others with compassion. Her spirit lives on in her family and friends. Funeral Services for Jan will begin on Thursday at 8:45AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 9:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road in Rotterdam. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jan's memory to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road Schenectady, NY 12306 or to Community Hospice 445 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205.
