James J. Legere, 92, of Scotia passed away on Thursday March 7, 2024 at the Glendale Home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, the 12th of 13 children of the late Charles and Margaret (Ballmes) Legere.
He proudly served his country in the NY Air National Guard retiring after 20 years of service. Jim was also employed as an electrician for the IBEW union, retiring in 1992. That lead to his son Terry and grandson Ethan following in his footstep to the trade.
James was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Scotia. He was a charter member of the Rotterdam Elks.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son Terence Legere and 12 siblings.
James is survived by his loving wife of 68years, Jeanette (Erickson) Legere, his son Daniel Legere(Christina), his daughter Colleen Legere, his daughter in law Beth Legere and four grandchildren Benjamin Legere (Janine), Hanna Legere, Sophia Legere, Ethan Sumner-Legere (Caitlyn) one great grand daughter, Maxine Legere as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of James life will be on
Thursday March 14, 2024 at 1 IAM at St.
Joseph's Church 231 2nd Street Scotia. A Visitation will precede the service at church from 10-1 IAM.
Interment with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery.
Contribution can be made in James' memory to Community Hospice or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
