James Hunter

March 8, 1928 — September 29, 2019

James Hunter, 91, of Rotterdam Junction passed away on Sunday September 29, 2019 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Glen) Hunter.

He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and attended Union College and the GE apprentice program.

James served his country in the US Navy from 1945-1952

He was a manufacturing engineer for the General Electric Company for 40 years. James was also the former owner of the HO-N Trains hobby store in Rotterdam Junction.

James was a member of the Woestina Reformed Church. He also was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, American Legion Post 64, VFW Post 358, the Apprentice Alumni and the Guna Ho Ha Fish and Game Club.

James is survived by his loving wife Jeanette L. (Bliss) Hunter whom he married October 24, 1953, two sons Scott Hunter (Renata) of Florida, Keith Hunter of Ballston Lake, two daughters Bonnie Hunter of Schenectady and Kim Skelly (Dayton) of Schenectady. He is also survived by six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of James life will be on Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 11AM at Woestina Reformed Church 1397 Main Street Rotterdam Junction.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the church.

Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
