James Holt, 68, passed away peacefully at home on November 2nd, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Amsterdam, James graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch high school. He married in 1975 and together with his wife Karen proceeded to build a beautiful life in Schenectady. After nearly forty years of employment with General Electric, Jim retired in 2014. His proudest moments were watching his kids and grandkids succeed and he was always interested to hear about work, school, sports, scouts, fishing trips and friends. His happiest of days were spent with his devoted wife and growing family — on family vacations, watching Nascar races, attending dance competitions, playing around at the casino, or simply making dinner for everyone at home. He loved music and playing his favorite songs on Alexa. He had a passion for classic cars and a wealth of knowledge in motor sports, stock cars and Nascar racing. Jimmy loved to make the people around him laugh. The "grandpa jokes" never got old and will be tremendously missed.
James is survived by his wife, Karen Holt; children, Timothy (Jennifer) Holt and Katie (Ian) Cameron; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ryley, Caidyn and Adalyn Holt, Carter Cameron; Mother-In-Law, Elizabeth Greco; Aunt, Emily Rackowski; In-laws, Ray and Judy Andi, Diane Potts, and Donald Darling; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins. James is predeceased by his parents, Clarence, and Clara Holt; brothers Robert and Ronald Holt; sister, Diane Darling; brother-in-law, Dominick Potts.
Funeral Services for James will be Monday at 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6PM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Park View Cemetery in Schenectady.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for all their support, care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor to The Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY.
