James ("Jimmy") Matthew Gignac, 55, was born in Brunswick ME January 1,1962, the youngest of 7 children born to Norman G. and Florence E. (Rigdon) Gignac. Born into an intinerant military family, Jimmy was fortunate to be moved once-from Maine to Rotterdam, N.Y. in 1964- where he lived on the Army Depot until his father's retirement in 1966. The family then moved up the road three miles to Gordon Road. Jimmy graduated from Schalmont H.S. in 1980. Jimmy remained in the Schenectady area for most of the rest of his life, except for a brief stint in Colorado when he served in the Army. Jimmy was a long term employee of the Scotia Diner, Scotia N.Y., where he felt the most at home. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, his sister Renee Meyer, and brothers, John Gignac and David Gignac. Surviving siblings are Norman Gignac, Jr, Daytona Beach, FL; Patricia Gignac Morrison, Wilmington, DE and Cheryl Gignac-Collura, Peckville, PA. He leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews in Vermont and Connecticut, and locally nephew, Jeremy Bradt, great niece Angelina Crandall, and many friends. Burial will be at the Schenectady Memorial Park , 566 Giffords Church Road. Friends, 2 p.m., Wed. 3/8/2107. Friends and family are welcomed to a "celebration" of Jimmy's life for breakfast (for dinner), his favorite meal of the day at the Scotia Diner, Mohawk Avenue, Scotia, N.Y. from 330-530, Wed. 3/8/17.
