James H. Bobar, 80, died Wednesday evening at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Mineville, NY, Jim was the son of the late Wallace and Elizabeth (Surprise) Bobar. The owner operator of Bobar Service Center from 1960 to 2009, Jim was a former Deputy Sheriff with Schenectady County, a member of the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce and the owner of Bobar Motor Sports. Jim also owned several stock cars that raced on the DIRT Circuit and were driven by many of the great local driver's. He loved Basketball, the Boston Celtics, boating, snowmobiling and his dogs. James is survived by his wife of 62 years Joan (Kenyon) Bobar, his children, Kenneth J. Bobar(Nancy) and James E. Bobar (Lynda) both of Rotterdam, grandchildren, Julie Nous (Eric), James E. Bobar and Jenna Rubin (Danny), great grandchildren, James C. Bobar, Matthew Bobar, Ava Nous and Victor Nous as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning August 15, 2015 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 to 11 am prior to the funeral service. Entombment will be in Memory's Garden.
