James A Battaglia

August 18, 1932 — November 14, 2007

James A. Battaglia 75 of Rotterdam died Wednesday evening November 14th at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born and educated in Schenectady, James was the son of the late Ferdinand and Lucy (DiRubis) Battaglia. An Army veteran of WWII, he worked at the General Electric Company for over 44 years before retiring as a crane follower in 1995. A member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and its Men's Society and Altar Boys Society, Jim was also a member of the GE ? century club, the Knights of Columbus, Rotterdam Senior Citizens, Local 301 and a member and former officer in Rotterdam Elks # 2157. One of twelve children, James was predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Colombus, Anthony and Frank Battaglia and sisters, Mary Penta and Laura D'Alessandris. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Nicolina (Saraco) Battaglia, his beloved children, Nancy L. Renna and husband Anthony Jr. of Rotterdam and James J. Battaglia of Rotterdam, his grandsons, Anthony Rocissano and Brian Renna, sisters, Angeline Savini of Scotia, Anna Osborne of California, Beatrice Warner of Florida, Bertha Marra of Rotterdam, brother, Alfred Battaglia of Texas, his in-laws, Italo and Josephine Massaroni and Gerald and Nancy Barry and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning November 19th at 9:15am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY followed at 10 am at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Pleasant Street, Schenectady where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours for Jim will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening November 18th from 4 to 8 pm. Interment in St Josephs Cemetery, Schenectady. Contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady, NY 12303
