Iona M. Salisburg 83 passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday afternoon March 10th with her son Wendell holding her hand. Born in Jamaica, Vermont, Iona was the daughter of the late Rodney and Greta (Bridgeo) Mattison, Iona attended schools in Delanson. A waitress at the Hub Restaurant for many years, Iona was active in music all of her life and appeared on Pick-A-Show with David Allen, where she performed the song"Have I told you that I love you"in 1972. A former C.N.A.. with the Upjohn Agency for over 5 years. Iona ran the Canaan horse farm in Guilderland and also ran a small housecleaning business until 2007. She was also a volunteer with the Duanesburg Senior center and enjoyed walking for exercise. Predeceased in the late 1970's by her husband Arthur L. Salisburg, Iona is survived by her children; Teresa Salisburg Martin (Clayton) of Duanesburg, Leroy Salisburg (Marcia) of Mayfield, Roland Salisburg (Jody) of Burtonsville, NY and Wendell Salisburg (Sonya Smith) of Delanson, her brothers; Rodney Mattison of Berne Knox and Dennis Mattison of Connecticut, sisters; Anita Geier of Indiana, Harriett Canastra of California and Marguerite Mattison of Idaho, 7 grandchildren ,1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday morning March 17th at 11 am at Schenectady Memorial Park, 566 Giffords Church Road, Schenectady, NY.A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 in Iona's memory.
