Howard J. Ostermann, 87 of Wright, NY passed away on Saturday September 23, 2017, at the Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Mantel) Ostermann. Howard served his country in the Army during the occupation of Germany. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was later employed for 37 years as a cable splicer for the Verizon Telephone Company. Howard was a life member of the American Legion. Howard had a lifetime passion for aviation and was an experienced pilot who enjoyed many hours flying his plane around the countryside. He also enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything that was broken. Howard is survived by three loving children - Kathleen Ostermann-Aldi (Michael) of Bristow, VA, Michael Ostermann (Sherra) of Niskayuna and Jeffery Ostermann (Lisa) of Wright, NY, one loving brother Robert Ostermann (Shirley) of Wright, NY, one loving grandchild Jack Ostermann and several nieces, and nephews. As per Howard's request funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Howard's family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals that helped him over the past year. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue.
