Howard O. Nilsen 86 died Friday afternoon January 27, 2006 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Union City, NJ, he was the son of Hartvig and Josephine Nilsen. A carpenter, Howard work for Local 370 of the Carpenters Union in Albany for over 22 years. Howard had also worked for Todd's Shipyards in Hoboken, NJ during WW2.He was a member of the Niskayuna Wesleyan Church and an avid fisherman. Howard was predeceased in 1972 by his 1st wife Ruth (Clemensen) Nilsen and three brothers, Edward, William and Arnold Nilsen. Survivors include is wife for 28 years Vivian (Daniels) Nilsen who he married May 21, 1977. seven children, Elsie Ruby (Edward) of Gloversville, Arleen Hallenbeck (James) of Duanesburg, Nancy Armao (David) of Summit, David Nilsen (Claudia) of Guilderland , Laurie Johnson (Kenneth) of Niskayuna, Annette Kasenko (Peter) of Schenectady and Ellen Nilsen of Albany. Vivian's two daughters, Cathy Pai of Moravia and Pat Strong (Regge) of Cortland, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning January 31, 2006 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8pm. Interment in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
