Harry J. Durand Sr. of Rotterdam died Saturday morning April 21, 2007 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. He was 81 years old. Born in Schenectady, NY on April 18, 1926 he was the son of Henry J. and Hazel (Bradshaw) Durand. A life long Schenectady resident, Harry attended schools in the city of Schenectady. He worked for the General Electric Company for 38 years before retiring in 1986. He was an Army veteran and served in the Signal Corp. in South East Asia. He was a member of IUECWA local 301, the American Legion Post 1005. Through his life he participated with his sons in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Little League. Harry was a big baseball fan, favoring the Cincinnati Reds but was later forced to become a Yankee Fan by his family. He was also a member of St Gabriel's Church and an avid hunter. Harry was predeceased by his granddaughter Olivia Leona Durand. He is survived by his wife Emily Savignano Durand and would have been married 60 years on June 15th, 2007, his two sons Harry J. Durand Jr. (Lisa) of Charlton and David A. Durand (Lorelei) of Rocky Hill, CN., his four grandchildren Emily Catherine Durand, Phillip Durand, Joseph Durand and Alexander Durand. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday morning April 24, 2007 at 10:30 am at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY. Calling Hours will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY.
