Harold J. Reger, 89, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born September 14, 1926 in Far Rockaway, NY, Harold was son of the late Edward Sr. and Caroline (Hiban) Reger. He moved to Scotia in the 1930s. Harold served with the US Navy on the U.S.S. Alamance during WWII. After the war, he joined his father's plumbing business. He was later employed by Niskayuna and then Draper School Districts from where he retired in 1986. Harold enjoyed life. He was a lifetime member of the VFW 1895 and Elks 2157 of Rotterdam. He was president of the Rotterdam Little League for several years, an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting and his baseball team, the Yankees. He loved to travel, especially to Lake Placid with his family. Harold is survived by his wife, Collette (Williams) Reger, whom he married on June 5, 1948; his devoted daughter, Deborah (Dan) Massaroni; three sons, Dennis (Deborah) Reger, David (Patricia) Reger, and Daniel (Krysia) Reger; nephew, Wayne Reger, and his cherished 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and countless friends and neighbors. He is predeceased by his brother Edward Reger Jr. from Phoenix, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Harold on Thursday at 11:30AM at St. Gabriel's Church 3040 Hamburg Street, Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A calling hour will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:15-11:15AM. Inurnment with full military honors will follow the mass at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
