Gregg Baldwin Millett, PhD, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Aug 1, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Gregg was a champion of peace and international friendship, an advocate with abundant humor and boundless energy. Gregg had mutual respect and admiration for people both in his local community, and throughout the world. He was instrumental in establishing a sister city relationship between Schenectady, NY and Kunming, China, after joining forces with Kunming entrepreneur, Jin Feibao. Together they brought Gregg's father's photographs of WWII China to be exhibited in Chinese museums, where they are now held as a National Treasure. Gregg was a University Professor, a homesteader in Nicaragua, and the Founder and current President of Singles Outreach Services, which, for 33 years, has provided social and educational activities for over 50,000 people throughout the Capital District. He was the master of technical engineering behind Schenectady Today, (now in its 18th year) hosted by his life companion of 30 years, Ann Parillo. Gregg's presence can be felt in the lives of the thousands of people he touched, near and far. Born and raised in Omaha, NE, Gregg is survived by his beloved partner, Annie; six children; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY 12306, on Sunday, Aug 7, starting at 2:30pm with shared memories starting at 4pm. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Gregg Millett Memorial Scholarship Fund at Proctor's Theatre, 432 State St., Schenectady, NY, 12305.
