Grace I Wood

Grace Isabel Wood, 81, passed away on Friday, October 17 in Shawnee, Kansas after a long illness. She was born in Schenectady, New York on July 14, 1933. Her parents were Waldo and Dorothy Becker. She is predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Ralph, and a sister, Ruth. Grace met John G. Wood, Jr. when she was 11 years old. They later married and had 52 happy years of marriage until his death in 2004. She is survived by their four children: John G. Wood, James F. Wood, Charles W. Wood, and Christine G. Languedoc. She has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. After raising her children, she had successful careers as a bank manager for Key Bank and later as a realtor. Grace had a number of impressive achievements during her life, including becoming the first woman member of the Capital District Rotary Club as well as a long term member of the Prairie Rose Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She will be missed very much by her family and friends. Funeral services for Grace will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 2pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, with calling hours from 1-2pm prior to the service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
