Grace E Hill

Grace Elizabeth Hill, 92, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. Born in Schenectady, Grace was the daughter of the late Jacob and Jennie Van Buren. Grace's professional career began with the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department and then went to work for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for over 26 years before her retirement. In addition to her professional career, Grace traveled extensively and loved to work in her flower garden. She was an active member of the Hillhurst Unit of the Home Bureau, the Schenectady Woman's Republican Club, Schenectady Board of Elections, the Bellevue Neighborhood Watch Program and enjoyed playing bridge with the "girls" for over 30 years. Her efforts to help better her community resulted in the dedication of the "Graceview Pavilion" in Fairview Park by the Bellevue Neighborhood Association. In 2004, Grace was named "Committeewoman of the Year" by the Schenectady County Republican Party. Grace was predeceased by her husband Howard E. Hill Sr., her son Howard E. Hill Jr. and her siblings Eva Mae, Helen, Mildred, Edgar, Jake, Harold, Millard and Arthur. Survivors include her daughter Beverly Mace (Thomas), her sister Catherine Oleschak and four grandchildren, Steven Mace, Jennifer Corbett (Joe), Amiee Dragon (Jeff) and Johnathan Hill (Regina), two great grandchildren Ian and Noah, along with many other extended family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 16th at 11:30am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY with a visitation at the funeral home from 10 to 11:30am prior to the service. Spring interment in Viewland Cemetery.
