Gertrude R Sobieski (Durr)

Gertrude R. Sobieski, 95, passed away Thursday afternoon June 23rd at her home in Rotterdam. Born in Rome, N.Y., Gertrude was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Bower)Durr. A homemaker, Gertrude was the former co-owner with her husband Eugene of the former Gene's Tavern on Congress Street in Schenectady. A member of the Rotterdam Eagles and the auxiliary of VFW Post 1895, Gertrude loved making her family happy and playing the rip off and scratch off tickets. Predeceased in 1973 by her husband of 19 years, Eugene Sobieski, She is survived by her daughter, Agnes A. Bradshaw (Robert) of Rotterdam, her grandchildren, AnnMarie Robinson (Colin) and Richard Bradshaw both of Rotterdam and her dear friends, Mary Cain and Dickey DiDonna both of Rotterdam. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon June 28th at 2:15 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave. Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 to 2 pm prior to service. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Rotterdam.
