George P. Ciampolillo passed away peacefully on 5/10/24. He was born to Philomena and Girolamo Ciampolillo in Troy NY on 12/12/26. He is predeceased by his siblings Nicolas, Natalie and Mary. George was married to the late Constance “Connie” Ciampolillo for 67yrs. He took care of her and loved her deeply until her last day April 30th 2021. They had four children George (Debbie), William “Billy”, Maribeth (Hans) Hansen, Michael (Julie) grandchildren Robert, Stephanie (Ian), Tessa, John “Luke”, Connor, Liam and Gia and great grandson Robert. Plus aunts, nieces and nephews. George enlisted in the Navy on his 18th birthday in 1944 and served during WWII as a telecommunications operator. He went on to graduate from RPI with a Masters Degree in Teaching. He worked at GE for many years until he took up his passion and became a teacher of math and science at Oneida Middle School in Schenectady, NY. The students referred to him as “Mr. Champ”. During the summer months he was the director of the summer camp “SAAC”. He enjoyed teaching children and learning new things. His favorite subjects were math and science. He was always looking for new ways and gadgets to make learning fun and interesting. He also loved to whistle and listen to music from the 1940s and 1950s era. He will be dearly missed. A memorial service for George will be held on July 11,2024 at 10 AM at the Gerald B.H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871
