George Leslie Bush, of Rotterdam, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 88. The only son of Frank Leslie Bush and Ina Maria Carpenter, He was born in Amsterdam, NY and was a graduate of Wilbur Lynch High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines. His lifelong passion was Ham Radio and was proud to speak with other hams around the world. He was well-loved by everyone he met and would strike up a conversation with anybody about anything. Dad stayed busy with various electronic and crafting projects until the very end. He worked at GE for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He faithfully attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church for over 50 years, where he was famous for his chalk talks and horn playing. Dad was very generous to all with his time and money. George was a member of the following organizations: The GE Quarter Century Club, The Schenectady Amateur Radio Association, The Quarter Century Wireless Association, the Grey Hair Net, The 4 PMer's Net, The Carrier Net, A.R.M.S. Christian Net, The A.R.R.L. ( N2JJE is now a silent key ), The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, The Nature Conservancy, The Red Cross, The Schenectady Museum Radio Club, to name a few. George is survived by his daughters Patricia Ann Bush and Diane Bush Bradbury and his son David George Bush, and one son-in-law, all of Rotterdam, NY, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Saturday 10AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Calling Hours will be Friday 5-7PM at the funeral home. Internment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill. Donations may be made in George's memory to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers if desired.
