Genevieve A. Boiko, 96, formerly of Rotterdam passed away on Thursday June 9, 2016 at the Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. Born in Rotterdam, Genevieve was the daughter of the late Hilary and Amelia (Kiszkiel) Szawiela and a graduate of the former Draper High School. A homemaker, Genevieve was an devoted rose grower, a member of the Schenectady Rose Society, St Gabriel's Church, an avid bowler until the age of 91 and had been active in several tennis leagues over the years. Predeceased in 1988 by her husband of 41 years Alexander Boiko, Genevieve was also preceded by her brother and 4 sisters. Genevieve is survived by her 2 sons; Stephan A. Boiko (Karen) of Clifton Park and Theodore H. Boiko (Karen) of Schenectady, her grandchildren; Alexander Boiko (Brynn), Miles Boiko and Samantha Millington (Eric) ,her great grandchildren; Lily, Jack ,Stefan and Elyse, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning June 14th at 9:45 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed at 10:30 am at St Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg Street, Rotterdam, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Internment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Rotterdam.
