Genevieve Wieland Schaperjahn

Genevieve Wieland Schaperjahn went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2015. She is survived by her husband, Edward Schaperjahn, her children Lynn Roberts and husband Stephen, Thomas Wieland and wife Carol, Dr. Robert Wieland, Michael Wieland and wife Ilyana, and stepson Edward Schaperjahn, Jr. and wife Jan, and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Gen graduated from Hudson High School and received her Associate's Degree from what is now Mohawk Valley Community College in 1953. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1977 from Russell Sage College and her Master's Degree in reading from SUNY Albany in 1985. She taught English at Ichabod Crane Central Schools, was a speaker for Stonecroft Ministries Christian Women's Clubs, was a volunteer at the Friendship Center of Schenectady and participated on the scholarship committee for the Class of '53 at Mohawk Valley. She loved people and had a servant's heart. Psalm 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gen's memory can be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21st, from 4-8pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 115 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
