Gary L Hawkins


Gary L. Hawkins 76, of Schenectady passed away on Monday July 18th at home under Hospice care.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Gary was the son of the late Arthur Claiborne and Mary Hawkins.

A Vietnam era Air Force veteran, Gary had many community jobs but best known for his healthcare work for the former Hallmark Nursing Home for several years and GE.

An avid cyclist, he loved riding his bicycle, doing crossword puzzles and listening to music. He loved telling stories about jumping from planes around the world.

Beside his parents, Gary was predeceased by his siblings Kevin Hawkins, Darryl Tolliver, David Tolliver, Sheila Hawkins and Robin Tolliver.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah Hawkins of Brooklyn, a brother Sean Tolliver, his nephew and caregiver Lawrence Tolliver and many other niece's nephews and grandchildren.

All services will be private.

Gary’s family wishes to express their heart felt gratitude to Brittney and the staff of Community Hospice for the wonderful care Gary received.

Interment in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gary’s memory to Community Hospice or to St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital
