Gary W Alvord

Gary W. Alvord, 77, of Alplaus, passed away on June 17, 2021 at the Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Dorian and Dorothy (Smith) Alvord.

He was a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School. Gary served his country proudly in the Navy from 1964-69. He was employed in small machine repair.

Gary was predeceased by a daughter Anne Lorraine Alvord and one brother Richard Alvord.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna (Brann) Alvord whom he married June 12, 1964, four children Timothy Alvord of Scotia, Heather Egry (Joseph) of Charlton, Kenneth Alvord (Gina) of Schenectady and Rebecca DeMichele(Douglas) of Utica. Gary is also survived by thirteen grandchildren Brianne, Jessica, Joseph, Jacob, Nicholas, Adeline, Caelan, Jilda, Cole, Kayla, Matthew, Megan and Hailee-Noelle as well as four great grandchildren Alex, Skylar, Averie and Emmarie.

A Celebration of Gary’s life will be Thursday June 24, 2021 at 12 noon at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A Visitation will be from 11-12.

Interment with military honors will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
