Freddie Cruz

Freddie Jose Cruz Sr., 62, passed away at his home in Schenectady on Saturday July 25th surrounded by family.

Born in Puerto Rico, Freddie was the son of the Late Jose and Ramona Cruz.

A lifelong Schenectady resident, Freddie received his GED and attended college for several years. He worked for Von Roll USA, Inc. in Schenectady for many years as a tube fitter.

Freddie will be remembered for his bubbly personality, his hard work ethics and his amazing singing and dancing capabilities.

Predeceased by his siblings, Freddie is survived by his wife, Katherine De Groat Cruz of Schenectady, his children, Florence Cruz Smith (Earl) of Houston Tx., Yolanda Cruz, Lillian Cruz, Tiffany Cruz, Freddie Cruz Jr., Javon Cruz all of Schenectady and Austin Cruz of San Bernardino, CA, his girlfriend, Carol Rodriguez of Schenectady, his step-children, Steven Bradt, Nina Rodriguez, Tiffany Rodriguez and Jennifer Rodriguez all of Schenectady and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held for Freddie on Friday July 31st from3 to 5 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY (COVID-19 requirements for social distancing, numbers in the funeral home and masks will be enforced)
