Freda M. Bonk, 94, of Rotterdam passed away Monday August 1, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Johnson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Virgie (Rector) Newberry. Freda was a homemaker and was employed for many years at the A & P Market. She also was a forklift driver at the Army Depot before starting her family. Freda lived to spend time with her large family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She sewed and played bingo for enjoyment. She is predeceased by her husband Casper H. Bonk in 2016, to whom she was married to for 71 years. Freda is survived by her eight children Charlotte Wolfenbarger (David) of Knoxville, TN, Mark H. Bonk of Schenectady, Cassie M. Rakvica of Glenville, Clifford D. Bonk (Colleen) of Mesa, AZ, John R. Bonk (Robin) of Fountain, CO, Mary M. Micheli (Stephen) of Delanson, Raymond Bonk (Cindy) of Schenectady and Richard Bonk (Pam) of Panama City, also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be Friday August 5, 2016 at 11AM at St. Cyril and Method Cemetery 611 Duanesburg Road, Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours by request. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Contributions can be made in Freda's memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children 12502 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
