Francis P Cummings

Francis P. Cummings 82 passed away on Wednesday October 4th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in the town of Sharon, Francis was the son of the late Marvin and Laura (Lane) Cummings and a graduate of the Sharon Springs Central School. A self-employed carpenter for over 40 years, Francis was the owner of Francis P. Cummings Remodeling Contractor's. A member of the Rotterdam UMC, Francis was a former Chair of the Trustee's and involved in many other church groups. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, watching NCAA basketball especially the Duke Blue Devils and was Siena Basketball season ticket holder. The youngest of 10 children Francis was predeceased by his brothers; Arthur , Walter, Elmer and Robert Cummings ,his sisters; Elizabeth Tyler, Fannie Jones, Ruby Cummings and Ida Mae Cummings. Francis is survived by his beloved wife of almost 55 years, Carol A. Cross Cummings who he married on October 21st 1962, his cherished sons; Steven F. Cummings(Susan) of Ballston Spa and Richard S. Cummings (Julie) of Rotterdam, his adored granddaughter; Brianna and his sister Bernice Garth of Mason City,Iowa. A visitation will be held on Monday October 9th from 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning October 10th at 10 am at the Rotterdam United Methodist Church, 1915 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady, NY 12306. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Francis's memory to the Rotterdam United Methodist Church, 1915 Helderberg Ave, Schenectady, NY 12306 or to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, N y 12205
