After 84 wonderful years, Francesco Campagnano joined God in Heaven on May 14, 2015. He was surrounded at home by his wife of more than 61 years, Arcangela (Viscusi) Campagnano, and his forever loving family. Francesco was born on August 15, 1930 in the Italian village of Squille, Caserta, Italy where he lived with his parents Maria Antonietta (Tebano), Antonio Campagnano and his brothers Samuele and Olindo and his sister, Giulia. In 1951, Francesco became a soldier in the Italian military where he served for two years. He returned home and married his wife, Arcangela at Our Lady of the Rosary Church on October 8, 1953. The couple moved north to Milan, Italy, near Bollate, Lombardy where Francesco worked in a factory for four years to support his wife, two sons, Antonio Z. and Maurizio and daughter, Maria A. On March 10th, 1967, Francesco and his family sailed a Raffaello Cruise ship for 13 days from Milan to America. His family's new home was in Schenectady, as it still is today. Francesco worked for the Schenectady Steel Company in Rotterdam, for over 26 years until his retirement in April of 1992. Francesco's hobbies included gardening, soccer and spending time with his extended family which includes many loving brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Rotterdam Soccer Club and the Sons of Italy. Francesco is survived by his wife Arcangela, his sons, Antonio Z. and Maurizio (Tammy Jo), and daughter, Maria A. Also, his grandsons Frank and Anthony Campagnano, and step-grandsons-in-law, Trey (Richard) Chewens and Tyler Chewens. His brother Olindo and sister Giulia and several nieces and nephews remain in Italy. He is also survived by his sisters in law Filomena, Angela , and Maria Viscusi, Beatrice (Antonio) Sgueglia and brothers in law Renato (Giustina) Viscusi and Franco (Maria) Viscusi. Also, many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Samuele and brothers in law Carlo, Antonio, and Bernardino Viscusi. A prayer service will be held on Monday, May 18 at 10:15am at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam. A visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 1-3pm at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Entombment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
