Floyd I. Stewart, 83, of Eastside Drive, Ballston Lake died at home on Wednesday April 18, 2007 after a long Battle with Cancer.Born in Schenectady, Floyd was the son of the late Floyd E. and Pauline (Jason) Stewart. He served in the US Army in World War 2 in Africa, Southern France and Italy in the 753rd Battalion and received a Purple Heart in the Battle of Casino. Floyd was first employed as a Dental Technician for Mayhew and Rossell Dental Lab in Albany and then was employed as a Mason for 22 years for C&H Spetla Construction in Ballston Lake. He enjoyed Hunting and Fishing in the Adirondacks and NASCAR. Floyd was a member of VFW Post 362 in Schroon Lake, the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club and was one of the founding members of the Pioneer Sportsmens Association. He was a long time member of the Ballston Lake Fire Department, serving as Fire Commissioner for 25 years. Floyd is predeceased by one sister Doris Fisher. Survivors include his wife Elsie Spetla Stewart whom he married December 7, 1946, one son William F. Stewart (Madine) of Ballston Lake, one daughter Karen Belden (Michael) of Concord, NC, also survived by several nieces and nephews and his Beloved Cats Sheena and Buster.Funeral Services will be Friday at 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. A Calling Hour will be Friday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Internment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
