F William "(Bill)" Richards

F. William (Bill) Richards, 87, of Glenville passed away on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at the Capstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Amsterdam. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Floyd Richards and Edna (Sargelis) Becker and step-son of the late Howard Becker. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and attended Bentley College. Bill was the operator for many years of Sargelis Dry Cleaning Store, their family business in Schenectady, . He attended the Trinity Reformed Church in Rotterdam for over 50 years. Bill was a member of Schenectady Lodge 1174 F&AM Masonic Lodge for many years. He enjoyed many summers at Saranac Shores and Horseneck Beach. Bill along with his wife Elaine, were avid pinochle players. He is predeceased by his wife Elaine Blessing Richards whom he married February 20, 1964. Bill is survived by his sister Norma Flowe of Boynton Beach, Fl, and his much loved nieces and nephews, Jennifer Kenneally (William) of Ballston Lake, Carolyn Hodgkins (Bruce) of Charlton, Edward Davis (Anne) of Guilderland and Jane Davis (late Harvey) of Guilderland, one sister in law Lois Davis of Scotia. Also Bill is survived by 12 grand nieces and nephews and 5 great grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Capstone for their loving care to Bill during his years residing there. Funeral Services will be Tuesday May 31, 2016 at 11:30AM at the Trinity Reformed Church 705 Curry Road in Rotterdam. Calling hours will be Monday evening 5-7PM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Schenectady Masonic Lodge #1174 will hold a service at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6 pm. Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam. Contributions can be made in Bill's memory to the Trinity Reformed Church.
