Evelyn Hesler

April 2, 1922 — August 8, 2021

Evelyn M. Hesler, 99, of Charlton, formerly of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 8, 2021 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Dickinson Center, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Louise (Compo) Guyette.

She attended Draper schools and graduated from Nott Terrace High School. Evelyn later was employed as a secretary for the General Electric Company. She married the love of her life Chuck and became a homemaker and turned her focus towards family life with her four girls. They were married for 58 years.

Evelyn was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church in Rotterdam.

She was passionate about playing cards, gardening and canning her harvest. Evelyn’s other joy was spending her summers at Lake Champlain and Mayfield Lake with her family.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Charles J. Hesler, whom she married September 11, 1943, her daughter Linda A. Macan, her two brothers Robert Guyette and Arthur Guyette Jr, her two sisters Betty Guyette and Marion Ausfeld and grandson Mark O'Brien.

Evelyn is survived by her three daughters Carol D. O’Brien (Michael) of Niskayuna, Beverly McElhiney (Leslie) of Palm Coast, Fl. and Mary Taplin (David) of Charlton, her son-in-law John Macan of Delanson, and her sister Jean McNeil of Schenectady. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Tammy McDonnell (Kevin), Michael O’Brien (Kristine), Joseph Macan (Susan), Christine Valade (Anthony), Kathleen VanNess, Charles Taplin, Emily Taplin, Elainna Taplin and 13 great grandchildren; Conner, Hannah, Michael, Meghan, Madison, Matthew, Marybeth, Gabby, Ryan, Justin, Kendell, Kenadee and McKenna. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling Hours for Evelyn will be Sunday evening from 5-8PM at the Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Funeral Services will begin on Monday August 16, 2021 at 9:45AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM at St. Gabriel’s Church, 3040 Hamburg Street, Rotterdam.

Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie.
