Eva Virginia "Ginny" Neff, 72, of Pattersonville, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on May 26, 2016 following a long illness. She was born on October 5, 1943 to Frederick and Eva (Senecal) Young, and was a long-time resident of Pattersonville, NY. Ginny graduated from Schalmont High School in 1961, where she met the love of her life Peter Allen Neff. They married on September 10, 1963, and have celebrated many happy years of marriage. Ginny is survived by her husband of 52 years Peter Neff, her sister Linda Young, her 4 children: Scott (Cindy) Neff, Andrew (Sara) Neff, Carrie (Tim) Markel, Molly (Chris) Mickle, Kimberly Nugent Fattorusso, who was like another daughter to her, her 11 grandchildren: Sarah "B" (Bob) Curtis, Ryan Neff, Kasey Neff, Luke Neff, Nicholas Ragucci, Cassidy Markel, Luisa Ragucci, Garrett Neff, Eliana Ragucci, Abbigail Markel, and Amelia Mickle. She is also survived by many cousins, and her beloved furry companion "Beasley." Ginny worked for New York State for 25 years before retiring in 2009 from the Tax Department. She also cooked for the West Rotterdam Senior Meal Site for several years. She was a long-time active member of Woestina Reformed Church, where she has served as an Elder of the church Consistory, Sunday school teacher as well as the Superintendent of Sunday School. She recently started a monthly senior meal program at the church, for which she planned and cooked the meals. Previously, Ginny was an active member of the Woestina Elementary School PTA, did costume design and creation for school plays, was a member of NYSSCA, a columnist for Speedway Scene and actively participated in The Ride for Missing Children in Albany and Utica. A celebration of her life will be held at Woestina Reformed Church in Rotterdam Junction on June 5th, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a graveside service. Ginny requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Woestina Reformed Church or to The Lustgarten Foundation in her memory. Special thanks to the Dr. David Shaffer, and Dr. Rufus Collea of New York Oncology and Hematology, to Albany Medical Center Palliative Care, Dr. Elizabeth Higgins, and especially to Pastor Kent Mc Heard of Woestina Reformed Church. Thanks also to the nurses at NYOH and AMC D4 Cancer floor, and Amsterdam Hospice for their kind and compassionate care and to all that prayed for and supported Ginny and her family throughout her illness.
