Eva C Wood (Woods)

Eva C. Wood, 83, of Schenectady passed away at home on Wednesday July 20, 2016.Born in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, she was the daughter of William and Clarabell (Eastman) Woods. Eva was a graduate of the Salvation Army Ministry School in 1955. She served in the ministries of the Salvation Army in various locations. Eva was a member of the Home League at church. She also stood at kettles during the holiday season for many years. Upon retirement from the ministry, Eva was employed as a home health aide. She was the director of the Senior Citizens Golden Age Program from 1979-1988. Eva is predeceased by her husband Major Harris D. Wood, whom she married June 3, 1961 and one daughter Christina Sutton. She is survived by her three daughters Arlene Merrill of Burnt Hills, Shari Wood of Schenectady, and Heather Wood (Kelly Wood) of Depew, NY, two sons William Wood (Rebecca) of Snellville, GA and Todd Wood of Albany, two sisters Mina Blacklock (Charles) of Ontario, Canada and Geraldine Merpaw (Jack) of Ontario, Canada. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces,which one was her namesake, Eva Whitham. Funeral Services for Eva will be Monday July 25, 2016 at 10am at the Salvation Army 222 Lafayette Street Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Sunday evening 5-7PM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Internment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie.
