Eugene S Deorazio

Eugene S. DeOrazio 90 of Norwood, NY and formerly of Avenue A in Schenectady for 45 years died Thursday October 2nd ,2008 at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Adam and Philomena (DeOrio) DeOrazio and the last of ten children. A graduate of Draper High School, Gene was a three sport varsity player and was awarded an athletic Scholarship upon graduation. Eugene spent two years in the Civil Conservation Corps in New York and Oregon and in 1940 joined the US Army. He served with the army during WWII in Italy, Sicily, Africa and England and received the American Defense Service Medal. He worked for Local 105 Plumber & Steamfitters Union for many years before his retirement in 1982. Since living in Norwood, he was a member of St Andrew's Catholic Church. Eugene was predeceased in 1992 by his wife Elizabeth (Szabo) DeOrazio, a daughter Bonita (Bonnie) Tessitore in 1983 and was also predeceased by his 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his three daughters, Denise diVincenzo (Michael) of Norwood, NY, Paula Kokosa (Frederick Sr.) of Schenectady and Jeanne DeOrazio (Fianc? Burt Draper)of Louisville, KY, 10 grandchildren, Lorinda Gandrow (Erik) , Aimee Kokosa (Significant other Kris Elliott), Frederick Kokosa Jr.(Fianc? Kelly Pierce) and Heather Kokosa (Fianc? Richard Robles)all of Schenectady, Nicole Squire ((Robert) of Miami, Fl., Danielle Brown of Louisville, KY, Ralph Tessitore, Jr. (Sarah) of Saratoga, Paul diVincenzo of Princeton, NJ, Adam and David diVincenzo both of Norwood, NY, a great grandchild, Kyle DeOrazio and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday morning October 6, 2008 at 10:15 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY followed at 11 am at St Anthony's Church 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 7 pm.
