Esther Schermerhorn Rohland 98 formerly of Oaklawn Avenue died Saturday morning October 16, 2004 at the Heritage Home for Women after a long illness. Born in Rotterdam she was the daughter of the late John and Edna Swatling. A graduate of Oneonta Normal School ,she work as a teacher in the Draper School System from 1924 until her retirement in the late 1970's.Esther was a member of the Fisher United Methodist Church, the Professional Women's Association and New York State Retired Teachers Association. Esther was predeceased by her first husband Herbert Schermerhorn in 1949 and her second husband Reagle Rohland in 1984. She is survived by her brother; Charles L. Swatling of Rotterdam , two nephews Charles F. Swatling of Northville, NY and Warren Starr of Rotterdam and several other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning October 20, 2004 at 11 am at Fisher United Methodist Church, Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Internment in Fishers Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Esther's memory to the Fisher United Methodist Church, 1913 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady, NY 12306
