Emily J. (Armstrong) Pierce, 84, formerly of Broad Street passed on Sunday April 4,2021 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville, NY.
Born in Schenectady, Emily graduated in 1954 from the former Draper High School and was a 1955 graduate of Mildred Elly Secretarial School. A former Secretary for the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories and nurse’s aide, Emily was the director of the Home Furnishings program in Schenectady for more than 25 years.
A former member of the former Broadway United Methodist Church, Emily was a 15-year member of the First Reformed Church of Scotia. She was also a volunteer Chaplin’s aid at Ellis Hospital.
Predeceased by her parents Harry and Emily (Kinum) Armstrong and her beloved husband John C. Pierce Sr. in 2019, Emily is survived by her children John C. Pierce Jr. (Kathe Sheehan) of Scotia, James Pierce (Kimberly) of Scotia and Gail Ristau (Willis)of Rotterdam, grandchildren Jason Russell, Jill Russell, Aubrey Pierce, Sophia Pierce, Billy Ristau and Jack Pierce, great grandchild Mason Badger, sisters June Grinter (Ed) of Scotia and Ann Armstrong of Rotterdam and sister-in-law Margaret Pierce.
A Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday April 30th for all at the Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY (Face masks and social distancing are required.) Funeral services for Emily will be private for family only at the funeral Home.
Interment will be in Viewland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Emily’s memory to the First Reformed Church of Scotia or to the Schenectady City Mission.
